International Networking, Partnerships

The Auth Faculty of Engineering participates in various educational programmes and also Networks of Faculties around Europe.

ATHENS Network

The ATHENS Network (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network) was launched in 1996. The official admission of the Faculty of Engineering of AUTh was in 2007. Within the framework of this network, the students of the Polytechnic have the opportunity to attend, in one of the universities participating in the network, a weekly cycle of intensive courses (30 hours of courses and 10 to 15 hours of (cultural) European dimension activities). These cycles take place twice a year, in March and November. There are no tuition fees, but participants cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and activities with a European dimension. The Faculty of Engineering of AUTh students have the opportunity to participate. At the same time, academic members of the Faculty of Engineering who are interested can organize similar courses for students of other universities participating in the network.

TIME Association

The Faculty of Engineering has been participating in the TIME Association (Top Industrial Managers for Europe) since 2004. The TIME Association, founded in 1989, offers the possibility of obtaining two diplomas from two different Universities. Some of the most prestigious Engineering Schools, mainly in Europe, participate in the network. The Faculty of Engineering of AUTh collaborates with Centrale Supelec and École Centrale Méditerrannée in France and Politecnico di Milano in Italy. The TIME Association aims to train high-level executives, offering them a high-quality scientific, technical, and cultural experience in two European countries and the opportunity to gain technical experience in a country other than theirs. The fundamental originality of the program is the possibility of obtaining, after a total duration of six years of study, two engineering diplomas.

The participation of the Faculty of Engineering of AUTh in the network is essential due to the possibility of promoting cooperation in education and research with notable universities. Students from the Departments of Civil, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineering have attended courses for 2 years at the Centrale Supelec in Paris, one of France’s most prestigious Engineering Schools. When they receive the diploma of their department, all these engineering students automatically receive the engineering diploma of the Centrale Supelec Paris. The ERASMUS program covers participation costs for the first year, and there is the possibility to apply for a scholarship.

RMEI Network

The AUTH Faculty of Engineering has been participating in the RMEI Network (Réseau Méditerranéen des Écoles d’ Ingénieurs – Mediterranean Network of Engineering Schools) since 2006. RMEI, founded in 1997 in Marseille, aims to improve engineering and management education in the Mediterranean Area, aspires to contribute to the social and economic upgrading of the region and to promote peace and sustainable development. It is an effort that will pay off in the long term, particularly in terms of the presence of our Faculty in the Mediterranean Area.
