ATHENS Network programme 2025
The Faculty of Engineering of the AUTh is a member of the ATHENS Network (Advanced Technology Higher Education Network/SOKRATES)), a network of 15 universities in Europe (indicatively: AUTH, Technische Universitat Munchen, Politecnico di Milano, Delft University of Technology, ParisTech, K.U. Leuven, Warsaw University of Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague, Instituto Superior Tecnico di Lisboa, Vienna Technical University).
Through the ATHENS Network, twice a year (March and November), students of the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (fourth and fifth year undergraduate students, postgraduate students and doctoral candidates) have the opportunity to attend an intensive one-week teaching programme (ATHENS programme) (30 hours of teaching and 10 to 15 hours of cultural activities) at one of the universities belonging to the above network. All lectures are in English and the topics of the programme lectures vary from university to university. There is no tuition fee but participants must cover their own transport, accommodation and food costs.
Regarding the participation of the AUTH in this programme, the AUTH Faculty of Engineering:
- During the November period, AUTh sends students to the above universities but does not offer a programme itself.
- In the period of March, AUTh sends students to the partner universities abroad, but it does offer a specific programme. The title of the programme is: “Impact of Metro construction on the long-term sustainability of a Metropolitan city: the case of Thessaloniki” and includes, in addition to lectures, cultural activities and visits to construction sites/stations of the Thessaloniki Metro. The lectures will take place in a hall of the Polytechnic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
This year the ATHENS programme in March will take place between 15/03/2025 and 22/03/2025 (simultaneously at all universities). The application period is from 15/01/2025 until 02/02/2025.
