The Faculty of Engineering can justly boast of the standard of both its students and graduates. However, it is particularly proud of its student groups, which develop the knowledge and skills of their members, produce social work by helping their fellow students and promote the School internationally through their participation and success in international student competitions. The visibility of the student groups on the School’s website is a small contribution.

Beyond Earth Aristotle Missions (BEAM)
B.E.A.M. is a student space research group founded by students of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Department with the aim of participating in the REXUS/BEXUS Programme. The group’s first project was called SHADE (SDR Helix Antenna Deployment Experiment) and concerned the study of a mechanism for deploying a helix antenna. Since then, the team participates in every cycle of the REXUS/BEXUS competition, presenting new and innovative ideas to be implemented, while also being active in different competitions related to space research such as IGLUNA, CanSat Greece and NASA Space Apps. To date, the team measures six experiments: SHADE, ECOWISE, LIGHT, Star Trackers, DROPSTAR and LISER, each of which has a different object of study.
SpaceDot
SpaceDot is one of the largest student research teams in Greece. It has created a network of more than 100 students across 10 academic institutions in Greece and abroad, since its founding in 2021. The team focuses on space research, which it carries out through the design and construction of two nanosatellites, AcubeSAT and PeakSat. AcubeSAT, a project primarily staffed by undergraduate students, is scheduled for launch in 2026, supported by the “Fly Your Satellite 3” program of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Education Office.
